This year we seek your support and funding to celebrate movement forward in honor of the dancers, the company, and creative work at the highest level.
Artists and particularly dancers make little money to support their lives while spending hours in the creative process to make work that is vital to all of us within the community. On top of that the physical nature of dance puts us at a disadvantage for time. In an effort to enrich the lives of those who spend countless hours in a studio in order to enrich the lives of others, we seek to double the hourly rate of the beautiful dancers of Prometheus and to offer them workman’s compensation insurance for their, work, time, creativity and love of the art form. If we can do this we will have begun an effort that should extend outward throughout the dance community.
As a company we have been active for over 25 years. We can no longer operate under the same model as we have in the past. The world has changed and so must we. We are organizing with the Massachusetts Cultural Council to create a think tank that will eventually lead to a new strategic plan. We need your support in order to hire a qualified consultant.
An artistic collaboration with photography and installation artists Robert and Shana Parke-Harrison is in the planning stages. Collaborating with these incredible artists has been a long time dream of the directors. The work of Robert and Shana Park Harrison is both visually striking and achingly beautiful. The work embodies humanity’s desire for redemption. Destructive pasts and mending possibilities might sound like the content of the work of Prometheus Dance. Our goal is to begin our work with creative residencies involving the artists, choreographers and the dancers.
We hope that you will join us in supporting our year of organizational focus, commitment to dance, collaborative art, and movement forward.
Your donation to the company is tax deductible and greatly appreciated. Help us to make it happen!
With Sincere Thanks,
